Australia’s Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector offers a large variety of qualifications for students with a strong practical orientation. VET providers offer a very large range of courses from Certificate III through to Bachelor Degree.
The structure of education in Australia consists of several stages. To get a nationally recognised qualification you do not necessarily need to pursue a bachelor degree. Certificate and Diploma courses in Australia equip students with a practical qualification, develop both practical and professional skills, and give them access to many job opportunities after as little as ten months of training. These course can also serve as a pathway to higher education.
CERTIFICATE III | These courses provide introductory skills and training, delivering industry-specific knowledge and skills
|
CERTIFICATE IV | These courses provide introductory skills and training, delivering industry-specific knowledge and skills
|
DIPLOMA | Diplomas prepare students for industry, enterprise and paraprofessional careers
|
ADVANCED DIPLOMA | An advanced diploma provides a high level of practical skills for advanced skilled or paraprofessional work

The duration of the training is determined by the program chosen by a student. Average estimated duration of VET programs:
Upon completion of certificate programs students can apply for Diploma/Advanced Diploma programs.
Australian colleges’ entry requirements are based on the requirements of the Departments of Education and Immigration of Australia:
If a student’s English language proficiency score is not high enough, English courses will be offered to a student. Intensive English program duration is 10-20 weeks, and upon successful completion of the program, the student is automatically transferred to the college for the principal course.
Students under the age of 18 are subject to certain conditions of their stay in Australia (such as having a guardian or an accompanying person).
* For specialisations like music, IT and art college may ask to provide additional evidence like portfolio, set of works, audition, or interview.
